(Please note that TRC is an extremely confusing series. If there's anything that you don't understand from the wiki, I will gladly explain. )
Canon Point: End of the last chapter, where he goes on a second journey with Kurogane and Tsubasa.
Gender & Sex: Male
Age: Looks 23, but implied to be much, much older than that.
Birthdate/Sign: March 20 | ♓ Pisces. (not canon)
Tattoo: An ice-blue pisces symbol on the palm of his right hand.
Suitability: N/A
Power: In canon, Fai is both a mage and a vampire. However, I have decided to only retain his vampiric abilities. He will have enhanced strength, speed, healing, a prolonged lifespan and the ability to turn his fingernails into razor sharp talons. As he does not have magic here, he will need to suck blood to survive. Kurogane's blood is the only one he can accept, so I will assume that the pisces tattoo he receives will prevent him from dying without blood. He will still have urges to drink blood and his body will gradually weaken without it, but he won't die.

I chose this sign because the traits that were outlined are most fitting for him. Firstly, Fai is indeed a "gentle" person. It's very rare for him to raise his voice at others. When he does reprimand his friends for something they have done, he does it in a very adoring and forgiving way. Fai is also a "caring" and "compassionate" person. He has a tendency to dote on his younger friends like a mother would children. He cooks them food, and will fret over them if they're sick. Fai is definitely an "escapist", as his whole purpose for going on the journey in the first place was to avoid having to face King Ashura when he woke up from his deep sleep. Fai is also very "self-blaming". He believes that a lot of misfortunes that befall the ones around him are his fault. For a majority of the series, he also carried on his shoulders a guilt for 'stealing' his brother's life.
I chose this birthday because of what was outlined in this (http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/family/march-20-birthday-astrology.htm) site. For a great part of the series, Fai puts on a 'veil' and hides his true self. He purposefully puts an emotional distance between himself and his friends. He is also "drawn to the past", in that he finds it very hard to let go of the painful things he has endured for most of his life. Kurogane had to remind him over and over that his past was not important to his friends and that he should focus on the present. This was something that took him a long time to accept.

Personality:
Fai D. Flourite was an alcoholic, a liar, and a fake.
When we first meet him, he gives off the impression of a very easy-going person. His hands would hang lazily off his hips and his back would arch just so slightly in a relaxed posture -- everything about him then spoke of a person who did not have a care to frown about. Not only did he appear easy-going, but he was also upbeat when the mood called for it. It wasn't an uncommon sight to see him clapping cheerfully for his friends, throwing his arms into the air or pulling everyone into a massive group hug. With him, there was always something to talk about, and that made him very easy to get along with. Putting himself out as a playful person, he always teased his fellow travelers. His biggest target, in particular, was Kurogane, whom he made the butt of almost all his jokes in effort to get a flustered reaction. There was also that smile. One thing most would immediately associate with him was the smile -- sometimes gentle, sometimes teasing, and sometimes enigmatic -- that he plastered on his face constantly. There was a considerable lack of seriousness to him, and this would continue when his life was in danger as well. Very rarely did he get serious or scared while fighting. Rather, his initial fight style was one that could appear almost insulting to the one he was fighting. Rather than standing his ground or charging forward, Fai would choose to sidestep all the blows with light, graceful feet and punctuate his movements with a quick, carefree grin.
To the ones who bothered to dig deeper, however, there was much more beneath what Fai chose to show. In actual fact, the jokes, teasing and carefree attitude all served the purpose of keeping his friends from prying into his life. He enjoyed their company, but Fai preferred to keep all his relationships at the surface. Throughout most of the earlier chapters, he chose to remain emotionally distant. Any attempts to glean information about his past from him were met with a cheerful attempt to change the subject, or a well-timed joke that would turn the mood of the conversation in his favor. It wasn't always like this, but the smile that he was so known for was a tool to him. It was a convenient mask he could lie from, and also a barrier that could hide all his pain and guilt from the eyes of the ones around him. Over time, he's gotten pretty darn good at keeping it up, but there are moments where a little manages to slip through the cracks. During these moments, he becomes uncharacteristically solemn. The perceptive ones would be able to detect a hint of loneliness within him; most definitely from closing other people out for so long. However, even as he lets some of his true feelings out for those short moments, Fai is still very careful in omitting details. He spend most of the first half of the series as a highly secretive character.
Fai has two reasons for choosing to keep his fellow travelers at an arm's length. Firstly, he had agreed to be Fei Wong Reed's pawn many years ago, and he distinctly remembered the instructions that Fei Wong had given him. He was to aid in Syaoran and Sakura's journey for as long as it adhered to his plan, and also kill Kurogane whom Fei Wong Reed felt would eventually become a hindrance. From the very beginning, he was working as a double agent, and getting close to the people he was supposed to be working against would only make things harder.
Secondly, Fai has a preconceived idea that he brings misfortune onto everything and everyone he comes in contact with. It's not an idea without backing, either. In the country he truly comes from, he was born of an unnatural and unfortunate circumstance. Fai was born a twin, and the combined magical power of twins had a very ill effect on his world, bringing misfortune to his family and country. This effect is contained in Valeria alone, but Fai believed it would always apply to him. The fact that King Ashura, who took him to the world of Celes, suffered a fate that mirrored that of the late Emperor of Valeria only served to prove to Fai that he was a curse to others. As he is a kind person, he does not wish to 'make anyone sadder than they already are'. He believes that by actively keeping a distance from them, they will not get hurt for his sake.
Throughout most of the series, Fai dances on the border between life and death. The way he fights reflects this. He's rarely concerned about protecting his own life, and far more concerned about the lives of others. Truthfully, he wanted to die -- to finally have closure on the life he felt he didn't deserve -- but he could not because of his true wish. He wanted more than anything to resurrect his dead twin brother -- Fai. No, they don't happen to have the same name. The Fai we see for most of the series is actually called 'Yuui', and he took his brother's name a long time ago to erase his old self from existence. For the longest time, Yuui blamed himself for his brother's death. In his memory, it was his choice that led to his brother plummeting to his death from the highest floor of that tower. It was him who had chosen to save himself over the brother he loved so much. (We later learn, however, that Fei Wong Reed had implanted that memory into him so that he would become guilty and vulnerable.) Thus, for most of the series, Yuui's wish was to eventually return the life and name he had "stolen" from his brother.
Despite all his personal flaws, Fai is a kind person. Even as the child that his country locked up and left for dead, he never scorned them for their actions. He even wanted to help them when he found out that the people were in trouble. It was his kindness that prevented him from killing King Ashura, whom he loved dearly. He even resorted to the drastic act of running across dimensions to further delay the inevitable that he would eventually be forced to end Ashura's life. Furthermore, throughout his journey, he frequently doted on and worried over his friends in a way that led Mokona to nickname him 'Mommy'. Over time, his caring nature eventually eroded at the distance he had attempted to put between him and the others. This attachment he had unknowingly formed has led him to go against personal vows such as his vow to never use magic again.
Fai is also a very knowledgeable and perceptive person. As he is quite a good liar himself, it is very easy for him to see through the cracks of another's lie. He is very sensitive to inconsistencies and oddities in the environment, and quick to investigate if he finds something amiss. If there are people spying on him from afar, there's a high chance he'll know. Furthermore, he also possesses a wealth of knowledge on magic and a very strong intuition for the presence of magic in the area. He can sense the presence of other mages, dreamseers and also traps that have been laid out for them.
The Acid Tokyo arc was where Fai gone through a very defining personality change. In this arc, Kurogane effectively forced Fai to continue living even against his own wishes. It was this moment that made Fai realise he had long crossed the boundary with his friends. For Kurogane to thoughtlessly give up his own blood and consent to serve as Fai's 'food source' for as long as he stayed a vampire; he had to care about Fai a lot, and this was the opposite of what he wanted. To keep their bond from growing even stronger, Fai chose to be ungrateful. He chose to be angry at Kurogane for going against his wishes, and dropped all the playful camaraderie they had. For the first time in the entire journey so far, Fai called Kurogane by his real name, deliberately implying that their relationship would be nothing but formal and aloof from then on.
And true enough, it was. Fai put a distance between himself and the others once more. His whole demeanor took a drastic change. He was now serious, calm and aloof. He did not smile as much; and when he did, they were never the same lazy, playful or cheerful ones they were before. On top of that, he was ever more reckless than before. He stopped hiding his willingness to throw away his life. Kurogane was the one who needed to remind him to feed on blood, as a vampire would weaken without it. Fai also offered to give up his sight for the opportunity to go after Sakura in Celes, and talked about gorging his right eye out as if it meant nothing. The only person he still stayed close to was Sakura, whom he felt an affinity for because they were both shouldering a huge burden in silence. Even then, his demeanor toward her changed as well. He no longer patronized her as one would a darling child. Instead, he treated her like a gentleman would treat a woman of royalty.
The Celes arc was another defining one that changed his personality. Kurogane, who time and time again declared he cared nothing about Fai's past, took it to the literal sense when he destroyed an illusion Ashura had created of all the painful events in Fai's life. Despite knowing that Fai was working for Fei Wong Reed the whole time, his friends still continued to trust him. Fai was also shown one of his deceased brother's memories. It showed him how the other Fai had willingly sacrificed his life so Yuui could live free; he hadn't killed his brother after all. Upon this realisation, Fai finally puts the real Fai to rest. Though he still keeps his brother's name and wishes he could resurrect him, he now treasures his own life as well.
After they return to Nihon, Fai punches Kurogane on the head for giving up an arm for him, and resumes in calling him nicknames. This signifies that the playful dynamic they once had has now returned. He's also much more willing to defend his own life. When Seishirou had him at the throat, Fai drew out his talons for the first time and slashed at him with great power. The Fai here can best be described as one far more honest. He still lets a smile hang on his lips, but he now only smiles when he feels like it.

[ When the feed opens, it's upside down, and there's a blond man with golden eyes peering at the screen. In his hand is the letter that everyone receives when they first arrive. He gives the communicator an inquisitive look, and starts to muse. It's quite clear he rarely uses devices of such technology. ]
How interesting. It's just like the ones in Piffle.
[ When he realises that he's got it to record, he flips the phone the right side up and a casual smile starts to form on his lips. ]
I hadn't realised that other worlds were suffering from a shortage of cooks. [ He's not serious, of course. From the calm way he seems to be taking being snatched from another world, it's reasonable to assume he does quite a lot of dimensional travelling himself. ]
That's a terrible problem, of course, but there's no need to start kidnapping!
[ He gives a bigger smile, then his tone takes on something more contemplating. ]
Ah, but if you snatch followers for your worship, can it really be called 'worship'?
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
Simply put, it was different. Fai is no stranger to dimensional travel, having studied it himself and travelled to many worlds through Mokona. He knew that different wizards had different 'signatures' to their transportation spells. For some, the last world would melt away like slow, dripping candlewax and a new world would appear in its place. For some, winds of an ethereal origin would sweep up the travellors and engulf them completely. Mokona would simply swallow everyone whole and spit them out at their next destination. (Something he always found quite comical.) All these, he had seen for himself, but he had never simply opened his eyes and found himself in another world before.
It was almost like a dream. However, if it were a dream, it was unlike any dream he had ever had. His dreams were usually plagued with images of a cold, deserted country. Sometimes he would see that young boy with his same face who fell from the highest floor and died in front of him. Sometimes, he would also see that compassionate King standing amid a pile of corpses, hands dripping with their blood. Never, did he see skies quite so calm and blue. Truthfully, the scenery around him was beautiful. Surrounding him were stone walls and arches of intricate carvings, and a few feet away an altar stood in its magnificence. Immediately, he knew this was a temple of some sort, and he must have been brought here for a reason.
As Fai slowly got to his feet, something within him stirred. It was his intuition, a heightened sensitivity to strong magic in the surroundings that could only be honed with years of experience. He could feel a veil of magic encircling the entire temple, and the altar radiated an even stronger magic. Though Fai would usually be pensive about approaching an enchanted object that was foreign to him -- especially considering the fact that his own magic couldn't seem to work in this world -- something about the altar was beckoning him. Inside, he knew this was all a spell, but his body seemed to move on its own. It simply could not resist the attraction to the luminous box presented before him. After stepping over the circular canal, the clear waters start to bubble. They then take on a life of their own and rise, spiralling upward. Fai gives the waters around him a knowing glance, a smile hanging lazily on his lips. They were clean, fresh and beautiful. It was a nice touch, honestly. However, when the waters finally encase him completely, and he takes a good look at the reflection they provided, that smile drops.
In there, he is naked. All pale skin and bony flesh. Not even the ribbon that held his hair together was shown. He knew that with magic, there are no accidents. This phenomenon happening around him was a deliberate act, prepared to send a message. He could only wonder what the true intention for bringing him here was. Nonetheless, he would have to ponder that later, because the slight pain on his right hand he first felt after the water started to rise was now searing, and something was beginning to take form. It was a tattoo. He recognised it as Pisces, of the Zodiac. As the water calms around him, Fai continued to stare at the offending mark, tracing it with his finger. He had received another tattoo of the same magical origin many years ago. He knew that this one would hold power as well, as with his intuition he could feel it tickling at the wrinkles of his palm. However, at his present state, he could not decipher what.
The glowing box opens, and inside are two items. Curious to know what the beings responsible for this would have to say to him, he picks up the letter first. Upon reading the very first line, however, his previously neutral expression darkens. The corners of his lips start to curl in a smile that can only be described as ominous.
'Dearest Yuui --'
His real name. They know it. Whoever these people were, they were clearly not to be underestimated.
