Character Info
Character's Name: Josuke Higashikata
Character's Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Character's Age: 16
Canon Point: End of Diamond is Unbreakable
Background/History: Here.
Strengths:
Kindness: Stands are a reflection of the user's will, with the Stand's appearance and abilities determined by the user's personality. The fact that Josuke developed a Stand with healing/repairing as its primary function should speak volumes about his personality. Josuke's biggest personality trait is his compassion toward others. While he looks rowdy, and does have a rough side to him, he's actually somewhat a pacifist, preferring to avoid a fight if he can help it (fights just keep falling into his lap). He also uses his power generously, healing friends, family, strangers and even enemies. His kindness shines the brightest in the moments he heals a person who only just tried to kill him, and that actually seems to happen a lot. Josuke just prefers it when nobody comes out of a fight dying while he's around, even if he loses his bargaining chip by healing that person or doing so puts him at a bigger disadvantage. It goes without saying that he does not like to kill. While he's a little flexible with the rules, Josuke's got a good sense of what's right and what's wrong. He will always follow his moral compass.
Loyalty: In line with his kind personality, Josuke cares deeply for his friends and family. For the people close to him, he will throw his life down over and over, even with the knowledge that he can't heal himself, and brave the scariest threats if it means keeping them safe. Such a thing goes without saying for him; he doesn't even need to be prompted. The most shining example of this was his refusal to abandon Okuyasu's lifeless body after the other boy had been attacked by Kira. There was no guarantee that Okuyasu was even still alive, and his body was dead weight weighing Josuke down in a fatal situation, but he persisted anyway, desperately dragging his friend to safety. Furthermore, when a loved one is hurt, it's not uncommon to see Josuke fly off the handle in rage. He's normally a pacifist, but in those situations he's very capable of vengeance. Even in day-to-day situations, Josuke expresses his care for his friends by lending them a listening ear. He sometimes worries about his friends too, keeping an eye on them. He's really just the sort of good-natured guy you can trust to both keep you company and protect you from danger.
Wits: Taking after his father, Josuke's got a good head on his shoulders. Though he may not have the book-smarts, he's very capable of thinking on his feet, often putting together cunning tactics while under duress. Restoration is his only power, so he has to get creative with how to use it offensively, and this makes for rather unconventional ways of winning fights. (He once won a fight by eating a glove, for example.) Since he's outclassed in most of his fights, he usually gains the upper hand by outsmarting the enemy with some strange new tactic.
Weaknesses:
Rage: Josuke's usually a laid-back guy who can tolerate a lot of things without retaliation, but when that one idiosyncratic trigger is set off, his personality makes a complete 180. This trigger, of course, is his hair. He will not stand for any sort of negative comment, intentional or not, aimed toward his beloved hairstyle, and as senseless as he sounds, he will beat someone to a pulp for it (but maybe ...heal them later when he's thinking properly). In fact, Josuke gets so angry when his hair is insulted that he's blindsided, turning into a belligerent punching/kicking machine. The reason he gets so affronted is the symbolism behind it all; he wears his pompadour pridefully in homage to his mysterious childhood hero, and insulting it is the same as insulting his hero. This trait of Josuke's can make him a loose cannon at times.
More sensibly, putting his mother and other close loved ones in danger will set Josuke off, but his rage in these situations is often more cool and contained. Threatening his mother especially will make Josuke boil, and then he starts to contradict his kind nature a bit, becoming capable of cruelty. While he's never killed a person, Josuke's sentenced two people to a fate pretty much worse than death -- breaking apart their bodies and fusing them with inanimate objects.
Overconfidence: Having had his Stand since he was 4, Josuke's had a lot of time to practice with it. He knows how it works, what he can do, and he's really good at using it. This makes him a bit over-confident in its abilities, having never had trouble healing who he wanted as a child. This is why he sometimes takes a relaxed attitude toward injuries sustained by the people around him, looking so calm about it it's almost like he doesn't care. This is also why he takes high risks, once impaling his own mother to get the Stand out of her. He healed her, of course, but if his ability hadn't worked properly in that moment she would have died right there. Josuke's simply extremely confident in his ability to heal any wound, and something like a second of peril feels like a small inconvenience to him. He only seemed to realise the limitation of his own power when he lost his grandfather to Angelo's Stand, a second too late in healing him before he passed on. Josuke could have prevented his death, too, if he had simply watched over the enemy Stand they had captured in a bottle. He was careless, and that's probably another result of his overconfidence.
Extravagance: When it comes to money, Josuke doesn't know the meaning of 'restraint'. He's got some awful spending habits -- splurging over nice clothes, finding himself broke, and splurging again the moment more money rolls in. He loves the lavish lifestyle a little too much, despite not having the means to support it. Seeing as he doesn't work, he often has to resort to underhanded means of obtaining money, toeing the line of what's legal and right. Most of his money-making schemes have ended in some kind of disaster, resulting in property damage or getting him almost killed. He never seems to learn, however. He keeps falling into temptation. Over and over.
Powers/Abilities: Josuke has a Stand named 'Crazy Diamond'. Here's a picture of the big pink boy. Stands are basically the manifestation of a person's psyche and fighting spirit, and the stronger the person's will is, the stronger the Stand will be. Being the humanoid type of Stand, it has the inhuman strength and combat capabilities often seen in other humanoid Stands. Crazy D can basically -- punch really fast and hard. It also possesses some capability in precise movements, being able to catch a bullet before it hits its user.
Combat capabilities aside, most Stands have an additional power, and Crazy Diamond's ability is restoration. This means it can essentially restore any part of an object or person it touches. In humans, this means the rapid healing of injuries, ranging from small cuts to the complete decimation of the body (if Josuke can get to them quick enough). For inanimate objects, Crazy Diamond is able to restore them to a previous state, to the point where even chemical changes can be reverted (for example, cooked food can be restored into base ingredients). Sounds really useful, but Crazy Diamond has one huge limitation: It cannot heal Josuke himself. This means that any injury he sustains will heal at a natural pace, and fatal wounds will kill him. Crazy Diamond is also unable to cure diseases, cannot bring the dead back to life and can only wander 2m away from Josuke himself. When he's angry, his attempts at restoring things give the objects a grotesque appearance.
Other Noteworthy Traits:
- Josuke can maintain a perfectly-styled pompadour at all times, even while half-dead.
- He's really good at wasting money.
Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
- His clothes. This includes a school uniform, a weird zipper tank top, some golden badges and Bally shoes.
- Whatever's on him -- a wallet, a comb and like 12 yen.
Color: Manly deep pink #FF1493 for the manliest boy. It's also the colour of his Stand.
Sample: Hey a tdm top level.
[ OPTIONAL ] World Aspect: Some of the animals, the small ones in particular such as rodents or insects, will develop Stands. As mentioned above, Stands are the physical embodiment of a person/animal's psyche, crafted by their temperament and willpower. In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, animal Stands tend to be very deadly, reflecting that animal's natural instinct to kill other animals for food and territory. One such example of this would be Ratt, a Stand capable of shooting bullets that melt flesh. This Stand was developed by a regular household rat, and used to melt its prey for consumption. Of course, the sky's the limit when it comes to Stands, so practically anything is feasible. The only rules that seem to be constant are: When a Stand is hurt, the user takes the same damage. Also, the longer the range of the Stand, the weaker it tends to be.
